企业家在利益与道德之间如何抉择？
How should an entrepreneur make choices between profits and moral ethics?
问：我从事投资行业，最近认识了一位企业家，他正面临利益与道德之间的抉择问题：Question:I work in investment. Recently, I got to know an entrepreneur who has trouble choosing between making profits and adhering to ethical principles.当前市场竞争激烈，如果他选用符合人体健康标准的原材料，生产成本将比同行高出三到四倍。The market is highly competitive today. If he uses raw materials that meet human health standards, his production cost will be three to four times higher than others.起初，他的基础很好，曾从事房地产行业并积累了资金，因此一直坚持保障人体安全的理念。In the beginning, he had a good foundation, coming from the real estate industry with accumulated funds, so he consistently adhered to the idea of ensuring human safety.然而，经过两年的市场运营后，他发现自己的成本高于他人，而且这种产品在短期内无法让客户感受到其优势，导致企业难以继续维持，于是不得不开始使用对人体有害的原材料。However, after two years in the market, he found it hard to sustain his business because his costs were higher than others, and customers couldn’t appreciate the advantages of his products in the short term. He had no choice but to start using raw materials harmful to human health.这样做虽然降低了成本，但从今年6月起，他的资金状况有了明显改善。This move reduced his production costs, and his financial situation improved significantly starting from June this year.我想请教一下，像这样的企业家在遇到此类困境时，应该如何抉择才正确呢？I would like to seek advice on how an entrepreneur like him should make the right decisions when faced with such dilemmas.堪布答：类似的情况现在比较常见。Khenpo:Such situations occur quite frequently nowadays.但如果仅为了个人获利而不顾大众健康，这显然是不对的，最终必将受到报应。Such actions are definitely wrong if they are solely driven by personal gain without considering public health, and they will bring retribution in due course.无论从事何种行业，这辈子都应该尽量避免做危害其他生命的事情。No matter what kind of job you do in this life, try your best not to harm other beings.如果能做到这一点，即使收入不高或待遇一般，至少内心会感到平静，生活也会较为安宁。If you can uphold this principle, even if you don’t earn much or have a comfortable position, at least you’ll have peace of mind and lead a tranquil life.当然，对于普通人来说，完全做到毫无瑕疵的生活也不现实。Surely, for ordinary people, living an absolutely flawless life is not always feasible.毕竟当今社会，许多人无所不为，我们身处其中，难免有时会有不良念头产生。After all, nowadays many people will stop at nothing evil. Living in such an environment, it’s difficult to avoid bad thoughts from arising at times.即便如此，也绝不能故意伤害众生！Even so, we must never deliberately inflict harm on sentient beings!目前社会上许多不良现象，我们可能无力一一揭露或阻止。We may not yet have the ability to expose or prevent the multitude of unhealthy activities in society now.但你们当中有些人，将来肯定有能力，具备这方面的能力。However, I am sure that some of you will be able to develop the power and capacity to do so in the future.因此，每个人都必须树立正确的价值观，如果没有明确的人生方向，将来很容易危害社会。Hence, it is crucial for everyone to establish a correct value system to live by. Without setting the right direction of your life, you may cause harm to others.学生在学习知识的同时积累福报有何意义？
Why is it necessary for students to accumulate merit while they are acquiring knowledge?
问：对一个学生而言，在学习知识的同时，积累福报有何必要呢？Question:What’s the point for students to accumulate merit while they are getting an education?堪布答：作为学生，首先，学习知识是很关键的。Khenpo:To begin with, it’s crucial for students to acquire knowledge.然后在此基础上，若能行善积福，这是十分明智的选择。At the same time, if they also practice virtue and gather merit, they are making a smart move.前世没有福报的人，今生一切都会不顺利，运气也非常差。A person lacking a stockpile of merit from the past will have bumpy rides in this life and suffer from bad luck.所以，古籍中说：“精勤如山王，不如积微福。”The ancient text says, “One spark of merit is worth more than a mountain of effort.”只有精勤地积累福德，做任何事情才会事半功倍，Only through diligently accumulating merit will we get twice the results with half the work in our endeavors.否则，仅仅是依靠精进努力，不一定就能如愿以偿。Otherwise, all our efforts, however arduous, may not necessarily be fruitful.就如同有些学生考试，福报不够的话，平时学习成绩再好，结果也考不上。When students take big exams, those who usually do well but lack sufficient merit may find themselves failing the exams.所以，积累福报非常重要。Therefore, it is crucially important to accumulate merit.佛陀也说过：“具有福德者，所求皆如愿。”The Buddha says, “People with virtue and merit will see all their wishes come true.”对你们学生而言，倘若造了很好的福德，即使没有特别勤奋，学业也会很容易成就，同时依靠福德力，心中的智慧能够自然开启。As for you students, if you have gathered virtue, your inner wisdom will blossom naturally. You’ll also breeze through your schoolwork, even if you have not been particularly diligent.一般来说，有了前世的福德之果，再加上今生的努力学习，人生的前途就会很美好。同样，依靠这样的因缘，自己的上半生、下半生，乃至未来的生生世世，也会非常幸福快乐。In general, powered by the fruit of past virtues, plus the assiduous studies of this life, students will always enjoy a bright academic future and live happily, not only in this life but also in countless lives to come.因此，长期护持这样一颗善心，以及上供下施的善举，并如理如法地行持，这一点极为关要，请大家牢记！Therefore, it is utterly essential to always maintain a good heart and to properly practice virtues such as giving to the needy and making offerings.
